Research

In today’s economy, many organizations are asking important research questions but don’t have the capability or staff capacity to find answers. In these situations, we lead an organization’s research project from start to finish. We believe that the combination of hard data and rich stories can amplify the message of any research product and we work closely with organizations to identify opportunities to leverage both to develop a final deliverable designed to fuel discussion and drive long-term impact. We also believe that there is no “one-size-fits-all” solution. Our experiences are shaped by intersecting identities and, as a result, we face different challenges and have unique needs. For this reason, Research 2 Impact strives to apply an intersectional lens to its work wherever possible.

Our work focuses on social policy and we have considerable experience applying an intersectional lens in our research. Some of our areas of expertise include:

  • Economic security

  • Education

  • Family-friendly workplace policies

  • Small business & entrepreneurship

  • Diversity in innovation

Research Consulting

We serve as a thought partner for clients who are conducting their own research or developing their own policies or programs, meeting them where they are and plugging in where needed. This enables them to produce a high-impact final product. Examples of consulting services we provide:

  • External review of research reports

  • Expert consultation on research design and methodology

  • Advisor on data collection and analysis strategies

  • Sounding board for new research ideas

  • Advise on program development, ensuring a data-driven approach

We help organizations understand the strengths and limitations of their current data collection strategies and provide recommendations on how they can maximize the effectiveness of current and future data collection efforts. These services include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing an audit of current data collection strategies

  • Advising on methods of improving and harmonizing data collection efforts to align more closely with organizational goals

  • Development of survey instruments and survey deployment

  • Analysis of client data

  • Educating staff on best practices in data collection and analysis

Data Collection and Analysis

We work closely with organizations who need support in demonstrating their impact to map their mission onto specific and measurable outcomes, gather data to understand whether those outcomes are being achieved, and tell the story of their impact in detailed reports that can be shared with funders or distributed more widely to their networks.

Impact Evaluation

Policy Analysis

We work with policymakers and advocates at the national, state, and local levels to pass progressive laws such as paid family leave by providing them with research and data to inform policy debates. This includes estimating the scale of the impacted population, estimating the costs and benefits of proposed programs (including start-up and administrative costs), evaluating the impact of the loss of funding to federal and state programs, and testifying before legislative bodies on the findings of our research.
